The objective of this speciality is to supply a scientific and technical high-level multi-field education allowing to understand and to treat the main aspects of the atmospheric environment.

Besides a robust theoretical basic training, this training allows to land by means of options, the most recent headways in the domain.

The fast evolution of techniques has immediate impacts on the quality of the atmosphere and more directly on the health. The sociétale demand relieved by standards and rules imposes on the industrial or administrative executives to have particularly well formed co-workers. Their mission will be to help them to set up as well physico-chemical measures as treatments and predictive approaches to improve the quality of the air, both in atmosphere outside and internal.

These specialists of the genius of the atmospheric environment not only have to master this domain, but also know the circles in which they will be brought to intervene, namely circles manufacturer or that of local governments.

Opened to the students stemming from a license "science" and having acquired a first year of Master of type "Environment" and avid to become integrated into research or into company, this speciality is directed according to two routes:

· a route "Research"

· a "Professional" route

In the first half of the year, a common-core syllabus in routes looks for and professional brings the academic basic knowledge in chemistry and the physical appearancethe physics of the atmosphere to be able to understand in general the functioning of the atmospheric system.

Routes begin to differ by the choice of options. So the "research" course looks for contain specific optional modules allowing to deepen certain fundamental aspects of the atmospheric environment, to choose among « modelling in the local and regional scales », « exchanges high troposphere - low stratosphere », « study of the climate », «physics and chemistry of the global atmospheres ». Other options with more applied character are also available.

The professional field contains besides the options of the complements to class on the pollution in urban and industrial circles as well as on the gas or particulate pollutants.

The second half of the year of the route looks for is completely dedicated to the training. This training of initiation into the research in a laboratory establishes the strong element of the forming training.

The training in company of the career is in alternation with trainings of applied forming:

- Industrial purge of pollutants emitted in the atmosphere- Modelling of transport and dispersal, mainly the industrial panaches

An optional credit is offered to the career in a internal way among acoustics, working atmospheres and internal air or security and management of the risks in professional environment with a training « Rescuer First-aid worker of the Work ».

The knowledge of English is an essential aspect of the training. English can be chosen among EC optional for both fields looks for and pro. The level of English at the end of the training of master is estimated by the establishment or by the passage of the exam of the TOEIC.

The route "professional" is conceived to work in alternation, as well as the route{*course*} looks for during the first half of the year. So the professional training will take place all year round, by periods blocked{*surrounded*} from 3 to 4 weeks, interrupted from 3 to 4 weeks of course. This training will take place, according to the chosen route, either in company, or in local government. He will allow the students to dive as soon as possible into the world of the work. The functioning in alternation also allows the speciality to be a training by learning.

They will be rather, for the "professionals" pupils of companies or communities in which they will deepen their practical forming. This learning will be made within the framework of the Alternation Training Center AFI 24 of the industries of the chemistry, parachimie, petroleum (Puteaux - www.afi24.org).

The students candidates for the speciality « Atmosphere and Quality of the Air » will be registered on the University Paris 7 or on the University Paris12. They have to be holders of the M1 or amount. The speciality looks for is so opened to the pupils of high schools (engineering schools, normal school) wishing to make their trainings of the end of studies in a laboratory.

The speciality is also opened in training to the staffs of the industries or the communities, which possess the criteria of registration required for M2 of the master, and for which their company or administration release educational school fees.

The speciality can be also opened, according to the professional experience, in training in conformance with the validation of the Knowledges by the experience (VAE). So the candidates having acquired in past a level diploma BAC+2 or a HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA 3 and having practiced in professional in the domain during a certain number of year can see itself exempted from M1 and integrate directly into M2. In this context, the file will be examined by the educational commission of the MASTER which will rule on the total or partial equivalence of M1 before the entrance to M2 AQA.

The master looks for direct to doctoral schools to prepare a doctoral thesis the financing of which can be insured by allowances look for of the Ministry ( MENESR), by financing of research bodies (NATIONAL CENTRE FOR SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH, ENPC, CEA (ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY, ADEME) or by industrial contracts ( CIFRE). Financing on European contracts and specific supports for foreign students can be also set up. At the conclusion of Master look for and possibly of the doctorate, the students will be particularly well formed to occupy researchers in public laboratories (INERIS, CSTB) or deprived of the big groups (Renault, PSA, IFP, etc.), in the administration of the environment (Ministry of the Environment, ADEME, etc.) In the networks of surveillance of the atmospheric pollution, … The career is intended to form the students for a fast integration in the professional structures concerned by the problems of atmospheric pollution: networks of surveillance of the pollution, DRIRE, APAVE, approved bodies of control, HSEQ service of the big companie, the deprived laboratories making atmospheric environmental measures or finally big administrations (ADEME, City hall of Paris etc.).
